I took on a new project recently, and completed it today. A band called the Greene Reveal wrote to us requesting a reworking of popular image to be used on tour shirts. Below is the initial sketch followed by the finished inks.

Pajama House Miniatures

Recently I started work on a series of miniature paintings. They are 2x2 inches and are acrylic on wood. Here is a picture with two of them photographed with some other items to give a better sense for their size. So far it's been fun and maybe I will make some of them available in the upcoming web shop.

The theme has to do with treasure and sunken ships, scuba diving dogs and so on. We also decided that it would required a Sea Monster. Here is my first sketch for the Sea Monster.

MCOSM 2006 Sleeve Project

Working on ideas for a series of 12" sleeves for Microcosm. I am wanting to create a panoramic theme for the label this year, which was already initiated in the designs for both volumes of Early Morning Migrations on vinyl. The idea is to lay each record side by side to continue the image through out the year.

Artwork for Goosehound. In keeping with the label's vintage and antique themes, this is also a homage to Winsor McKay. Whose comic strips, which I doubt will ever be equalled in today's papers, ran at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th.

GHOUND002 Progress Report

Currently working on ideas and such for Goosehound's second 12". This was the first batch of them, but I am scrapping them and starting over. It is not really keeping with the aesthetic theme of the label - which is vintage and antique printing styles and ideas.

Sleeve. I like the idea of the angle, and showing the yard, but it is too much like my work for Macrofun and feels too modern in contrast with what I would really like to see.

Side A. I like the dog, but it is not working for the release and the idea I had for it.

Side B. I also like how the skeleton for the dog worked in this one, too bad it is being scrapped. Maybe it will be revived for something later...

Project Balm: Started

Work has been started on a video for Morgan Packard's balm this past weekend. A concept was planned out and some tests with timing and sequencing were done. So far it looks promising.

I have been working on a video for a song this month. The song is Zuni Lullaby by Miskate, and it is to be released on Foundsound Records very soon. I am in the middle of working on the final product, but felt like it was about time I put some information up on the process of creating this music video.

You can see a mock video that was created with little sketches that I made to elaborate on the concept and figure out the overall timeline and number of sequences needed.

I started another 12" vinyl label project this week. This one is for a release on Microcosm by Philadelphia's Miskate. Her music is pretty fun and you can find out/hear more about her at Foundsound.

The labels for Microcosm's 6th release were finished this week. They were originally intended to be black and white only, but from the start I wanted to use some sort of subtle pink to play off of the whole human / flesh element. I decided not to go with it until just a few days before the deadline when i decided I might as well try it as an experiment since I was ahead of schedule.

The experiment was a success. Everyone enjoys the pink. It is a very fitting pink too.
